The objectives: Connecting Customers with Local Businesses
Achil is a platform entirely dedicated to the sale of products from Morteau – France local brands. Based on the operation of Click & Collect, Achil aimed to:
- Benefit Customers: Provide a user-friendly way for customers to discover and purchase local products online, with the convenience of picking up orders from their preferred merchants in Morteau
- Enable Merchants: Offer local businesses in Morteau an additional sales channel, tools to enhance customer relationships, and streamlined order management processes to improve efficiency.
Challenges: Building a Multi-Platform Solution for Seamless Commerce
Developing four distinct applications with specific requirements:
- Customer App (Android & iOS): For browsing products, placing orders, and managing accounts.
- Merchant App (Android & iOS): For receiving orders, managing inventory, and interacting with customers.
- Shop Management App (Tablet): Optimized for in-store use by staff to manage orders, track inventory, and fulfill orders efficiently.
- Back-office Solution: A comprehensive web-based platform for administrators to manage the marketplace, merchants, and overall system operations.
Solutions: A Hybrid Architecture for Optimal Performance and Scalability
To address these challenges, a hybrid architecture was implemented:
- Frontend: Flutter was used for the customer-facing mobile apps, while React JS powered the customer and merchant websites, ensuring a consistent and engaging user experience across devices.
- Backend: Sylius and API Platform were chosen as the e-commerce middleware, providing a robust foundation for product management, order processing, and customer data management.
- Infrastructure: AWS was selected as the hosting provider with a MySQL database, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficient data management.
Results: A Fully Integrated Platform Driving Sales and Efficiency
The project successfully delivered a fully integrated platform with four key applications:
- Customer Mobile App/Website: Provides a seamless ordering experience with features like recipe customization, flexible delivery options (Click & Collect, Drive), and real-time order tracking.
- Shop Dashboard App (Tablet): Empowers shop staff with real-time order updates, order prioritization features, and efficient ingredient management tools.
- Shop Manager Web Portal: Offers comprehensive tools for managing product listings, tracking financial performance, defining delivery zones, and more.
- Administrator Portal: Provides administrators with powerful platform-wide control, including financial management, merchant management, and system configuration.
This collaborative effort, involving a global team of developers, designers, and project managers, resulted in a revolutionized user experience for both customers and merchants, positioning Achil as a leader in supporting local businesses in Morteau.
